OTES Introduction

"Fairness in overtime allocation is important to employee morale"

Productivity and morale may be affected when overtime is allocated unevenly. Many employees receive a significant portion of their income from overtime, and regard it as a "status leveler" between themselves and higher-paid professionals.

Overtime that is carelessly assigned may have undue impact on employees who have other commitments, particularly when other employees might be anxious to receive it. Overtime allocation can also be used as a reward for employees who honor rules for attendance, punctuality and workplace behavior.

To help achieve the benefits of fair overtime allocation, QQuest offers the Overtime Equalization System (OTES). OTES provides a comprehensive facility to support supervisory personnel making decisions about assigning overtime.

OTES Product Basics

The ideal overtime allocation system would take into account employee preferences. It would allow employees to specify certain days when they would like to be considered for overtime, as well as days when they would prefer to not have overtime assigned. It would also allow employees to indicate when they would want to be considered for last-minute call-in.

In such as system, supervisors would have instant access to a list of those employees who "volunteered" to be available for overtime for a given shift. The system would be aware of employee job classifications, and allow supervisor to search for employees suited to fill a required role.

Finally, an ideal overtime allocation system would encourage fair consideration of all employees, so that supervisors could choose employees who have received less overtime than their coworkers. It would "equalize" the overtime assignments over time, and reduce any sense of favoritism in the overtime allocation process.

To meet these and other requirements, QQuest has developed OTES.
